Department of Civil Engineering Organises Its First-Ever Technical Fest under CIVICON–TechFest 2026 at SLIET Longowal

The Department of Civil Engineering, Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SLIET), Longowal, proudly organised its first-ever technical fest under the CIVICON category, titled CIVICON–TechFest 2026, on 16–17 October 2026. This landmark initiative marks an important milestone in the department’s journey towards promoting technical innovation, creativity, practical learning and interdisciplinary collaboration among engineering students.

The two-day technical fest featured six exciting technical events designed to provide students with a platform to demonstrate their engineering knowledge, innovative ideas, design capabilities and problem-solving skills.

Six Major Technical Events

  1. Truss Load Competition: Demonstrating structural engineering concepts through the design, fabrication and load-bearing capacity of truss models.
  2. Seismic Challenge: Exploring earthquake-resistant structural concepts and understanding the behaviour of structures under seismic forces.
  3. City Model Exhibition (Smart City): Presenting innovative ideas and sustainable solutions for future smart cities and urban infrastructure.
  4. CAD Design Challenge: Showcasing computer-aided design skills, technical drafting and engineering design capabilities.
  5. Poster Presentation: Providing a platform for students to communicate innovative technical ideas, research concepts and engineering solutions.
  6. Technical Quiz Competition: Testing participants’ technical knowledge, analytical thinking and understanding of engineering concepts.

The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing different institutions. Participants displayed remarkable creativity, technical competence, teamwork and a spirit of healthy competition.
